P90X Ab Ripper X Gives Me Sore Hip Flexors

p90x-stretch-for-sore-hip-flexorsSo you started your P90X 90 day work out program and you are finding out that everything is sore.  Well what I want to talk about today is your sore hip flexors.  Is it normal for my hip flexors to be this sore while doing P90X?  Which exercise has caused my hip flexors to be so sore?

When I first started P90X my hip flexors were so sore that I could hardly lift my legs for a day or 2.  Keep in mind I was in pretty good shape before I started P90X from lifting weights and running 3-4 times a week.  I was pretty shocked when they got as sore as they did.  I figured with my running there was no way they could get that sore.  Well I guess I was very wrong.  Only exercises I could blame were P90X Ab Ripper X and maybe while doing swing kicks in P90X Plyometrics.  This is what had to cause my hip flexors to be so sore.  Doing the crunchy frog, in and outs and then those bicycles really worked my hip flexors. So if you are wondering if this is normal then my answer is yes. P90X Ab Ripper X will make your hip flexors sore and most likely your abs too.

They are just fine now and do not get sore any more but one thing that I did notice was my back was getting a little sore again. (If you have a sore back you might want to read P90X and Back Pain).  After researching the issue a little bit I decided I really needed to stretch my hip flexors more than I was.  They do get quite the stretch in P90X Yoga X but below are 2 additional stretches I do to help keep my hip flexors loose.  I try and do them daily.  In the first one she says to hold it for a good 10 seconds.  I really feel in order to get the proper benefits from any stretch you need to hold it for 20-30 seconds on each leg and do 3-5 reps. Hope this helps.

firm-buttThe glutes is a common problem area for many people.  Just like the abs, many have opted for quick fixes and in some cases surgery just to get shapely buttocks.  But you don’t have to resort to drastic measures just to be able to turn heads with your butt.  So before you give up all hopes, try to consider several things about what you are currently doing.

A healthy life style precedes any physical fitness that you may long for.  So it is important to consider the small things that you do to keep your self healthy and fit.  The obvious question here is DO YOU EXERCISE?  If not, you’d better start or you’ll never see the day when you have gorgeous glutes.  But exactly what exercises should you do?  There are numerous butt exercises that you can do.  Squats are the simplest and are a favorite for targeting the gluteus maximus.  Likewise, lunges and back kicks are some exercises recommended by fitness experts.  However, these exercises can strengthen the buttocks but not burn the fat that covers them.  As such, cardio vascular exercises are needed.  The best way to get rid of the fats is to burn more calories.  Walking, jogging, cycling and skating are excellent cardiovascular activities.  They provide you the fat burning exercise while using the target area.  It is practically killing two birds with one stone.

When doing exercises, every fitness expert will agree that alternating strength training and cardio vascular activities is the best and safest routine.  It is therefore imperative that you set a schedule that will include both types of exercise as well as provide ample rest for you butt and your whole body.

Another important consideration in toning your butt is the food that you eat.  Eating healthier is a surefire way of getting a toner physique.  Controlling your calorie intake so it will not be stored as fat is important.  The extra fat usually goes to the mid section and the buttocks.  A high fiber, low calorie diet is recommended.  However, it is best to consult an expert for your specific dietary needs.

Getting a toned butt requires two major things:  exercise and food.  The balance between the two will help you shape your butt easier and faster.  You’ll be amazed how a simple change in diet and exercise routine can make a big difference in the way your buttocks look.

The Mind: Your Best Tool To Tone Your Butt

toned-buttTargeting the buttocks in your exercise requires a lot of patience, determination and most importantly discipline.  Having the perfect buttocks is not as simple as putting commercially available cream to burn the fat or just slapping on some vibrating gadget while you watch your T.V.

Of course exercise is important.  This is a basic requirement for a fit and healthier life.  Unless your work is physically demanding for your butt muscles, then you definitely have to do specific exercises for your butt.  Some fun and simple ways to get your butt some exercise include, squatting, lunges, step up, and other movements that require hip flexing.  These exercises will help strengthen your gluteus maximus.  But to get that toned muscles visible, you still have to burn the fats that’s covering them.  For this, you need cardio-vascular exercises.  Walking, jogging, running and cycling are convenient ways to easily burn those extra fats.  Moreover, these exercises also help increase the strength of your butt muscles.

But here’s the tricky part – maintaining a regular exercise routine.  It is so hard to start exercising but it is easy to stop. You need to be determined enough to keep on going, even if you think nothing is happening.  Exercising is more than just a physical activity- it is truly a mind game.

While you strengthen and burn calories through your exercise, it is also important that you eat healthy.  Counting calories does not mean you totally cut down on the great pleasures of eating.  It simply suggests that you eat the right amount of food for the right amount of calories.  So it is important that you watch what you eat so you can watch your butt take on the shape that you want.

Still, it is a challenge to say no to that extra serving of chocolate ice cream or that moist cake.  But you do have to control yourself.  Again, it’s all in the mind.

Your quest for the ultimate buttocks requires you to have a zen-like focus on your goal.  It is easy to get distracted and derailed from your goals.  This happens a lot, but the key is to get back on track.

If you truly want to tone your butt, you have to work hard for it.  More than just the physical challenge, it’s a test of your character and will.   Your mind is your best tool for a gorgeous butt.

P90X Frequently Asked Questions | P90X FAQs

p90x-faqs So you have some questions about P90X?  Here you will find some of the top questions that I hear on a regular basis.  There is also a lot of P90X information on this blog about my personal journey with P90X and after.

1. Q: I am not in great shape, can I do P90X?  A: You should at least have some sore of base before attempting P90X. If you haven’t work out in 10 years I would not recommend starting here since you will probably get frustrated.  Power 90 is a great place to start which leads up to P90X.

2. Q: I can’t do any pull ups, can I still do P90X?  A: Yes, Tony Horton shows you how to do modified pull ups with a chair until you have the strength to do full pull ups.  You could also use the resistance bands.

3: Q: How much space do I need to do P90X?  A: P90X can be done in a bedroom if need be so you do not need too much space.

4. Q: Beside ordering P90X, what other equipment will I need, if any?  A: You will need some dumbbells or resistance bands, a pull up bar(unless using the bands from a door), a mat(or a carpeted area for Yoga X and and a few floor exercises), will and desire to get in the best shape of your life and the ability to change your eating habits.

5. Q: Where can I buy P90XA: <—-Read this post or simply go here: P90X Exercise

6. Q: Will I be sore from p90X?  A: Most likely yes, I was in pretty good shape when I started P90X but I still got sore.  You will probably be doing a lot of movements that you have never done before.

7. Q: How much weight can I lose?  A: Everyone is different and P90X is not a weight loss program but it will burn fat and build muscle which is key in weight loss.  Depending on how hard you work your results will vary. I am in the best shape of my life because of P90X.

8: Q: What if I don’t like it? A: Simple, Beachbody has a money back guarantee on every product available.  You can return it for a full refund, less shipping.

9. Q: Does P90X come with a menu guide?  A: Yes, P90X comes with a detailed P90X nutrition plan to help maximize your results.

10. Q: How long are the work outs?  A: Usually about an hour. P90X Yoga X is 1 1/2 hours and 3 times a week you need an extra 15 mins for Ab Ripper X.

11. Q: Is P90X for women?  A: Absolutely, women have great results with P90X.

12. Q: I have had injuries, can I do P90x?  A: Always consult with your doctor before starting any exercise plan.  Then, I recommend that if something hurts you, that you don’t do that exercise. I had back surgery about 7 years ago and I still do P90X.  I skip only 3 moves out of 12 DVD’s.  You can read more about it at P90X and back pain. Over all gains helped my body to resist injury since you are working every muscle head to toe.

13. Q: Is P90X found in stores?  A: No.

14. Q: Are there coupons for P90X?  A: No, but you can save 25% by becoming a Beachbody coach.

15. Q: Is P90X high impact?  A: I would say no, but P90X Plyometrics is jump training so you will be leaving the ground.  There are modified moves for those who want even lower impact.

16. Q: Can I download P90X?  A: No ….but you can get the P90X iPhone app

17. Q: Do I have to do P90X Yoga XA: Steve Edwards says. “When a form of exercise has had over 3,000 years to evolve, it tends to be highly effective. It increases strength, balance, and flexibility in a way that no other exercise can. A lot of people write in to ask if they can replace it with stretching, but it’s just not the same thing. Stretching does little, if anything, for strength and balance.  I know yoga can be hard, but if you stick it out, it’ll pay off. If you don’t believe me, here’s what Kareem Abdul-Jabbar told Time magazine about the longevity of his basketball career: “My friends and teammates think I made a deal with the devil. But it was yoga that made my training complete. There is no way I could have played as long as I did without yoga.”

18. Q: Can I run while doing P90X?  A: This is a post in itself but I would say yes and I know people that do, just not on plyo or P90X legs and back day.

19. Q: Will P90X help with baseball?  A: I feel P90X will enhance any sport you perform.
