How to Make Time for Your P90X Workouts

Make Time for P90XDon’t let the “Get Ripped in 90 Days” tag line fool you.  Working out with P90X is going to be hard and you will have to make a commitment but if you stick with it then you will see some great changes.  I feel that sometimes people think P90X is going to be easy because it is marketed as a 90 day program. Well I’m here to tell you, P90X is far from easy.  You will be working out for about an hour for each workout.  Add 15 minutes 3 times a week when you have to add Ab Ripper X and on Yoga X day be ready for 1 1/2 hours.  Plus you will be working out 7 days a weeks unless you decide not to do Stretch X on the 7th day.  P90X is no walk in the park and making time for your workouts will play an important role in your success.

The bottom line is this.  You have to commit to complete these workouts and follow the P90X nutrition plan for 90 days.  Don’t say you are going to give it a try.  Tell yourself you are doing it and that is it. Like Yoda said, “Do or do not, there is no try”. I am not sure if you have ever seen Yoda swing a light saber but he’s pretty darn good at it so I think his advice is pretty sound. (lol) After all, he is a Jedi Knight.

There are a few things you can do to give yourself a better chance of success with P90X.  If you are already working out then you have the time for P90X.  Just put P90X into your workout time slot.  If you only workout for a 1/2 hour then you need to figure out how you are going to get the extra time to complete the P90X workouts. Here are some things you can do:

Stick with your time- Try and workout the same time everyday.  This will make it easier for you to turn P90X into a habit.

Schedule your workouts in your planner or in WOWY- Once it is written down it is easier to keep your appointment.

Pre-plan your meals- Sometimes figuring out what you are going to eat takes too much time.  Plan ahead and maybe plan 2-3 meals at a time.  One of my favorite things to do is grill 4-5 chicken breasts and then just use what is left for a chicken salad the next day or a chicken sandwich.

P90X Workout time is your time: Don’t interrupt your P90X workouts.  Don’t answer the phone, check your text messages or start screaming at your kids.  This is your time.

Put your tennis shoes next to your bed: If you do your P90X workout in the morning put your shoes next to your bed.  Trust me, it works.

Get a buddy: If you have a workout buddy you have just increased you success rate.

Keep pressing play: What ever you do, make sure you keep putting in your DVD’s and keep pressing play.

Take a Break from P90XSo I received a question the other day from a P90X graduate and he was wondering if he should take a break after completing 90 days of P90X? After thinking about how to answer I decided to refer to the P90X fitness guide and also tell him what works best for me from my own personal experience.  In the P90X fitness there is always a recovery week which is every 4th week.  So you workout for 3 weeks and then do P90X Yoga X, P90X Core Synergistics, P90X Kenpo X and P90X Stretch.  I would say to give your body some sort of recovery time just like you do in the 4th week, the 8th week and the 13th week of P90X. What you do is up to you but I would do something.  I would not just take 7 days off from everything.  Here is what I do. I do Yoga X twice, Core synergistics twice and on Wed I do light weight with 20 reps per exercise.  Actually let me spell in out: Mon- P90X Yoga X, Tues- P90X Core Synergistics, Wed- Lift weights with light weights and do 20 reps per exercise, thurs- P90X Yoga X, and Fri- P90X Core synergistics. (Sat and Sun I do nothing)  You could probably throw in P90X Plyometrics in the mix instead of core but it is up to you.  For some reason this really energizes me and I feel stronger when I start back up on the following Monday.

Everyone is different and you have to do what is best for you and your body.  Maybe you only workout 3 times during your recovery week.  Maybe you only need a recovery week every 5th or 6th week.  What you need will be an on going work in progress.  It takes time to figure these things out.  Your goals will change and then you will have to make even further changes to your workout regiment.

So listen to your body, it will send you messages.  What is good for me might now be good for you.  Always stay open minded when it comes to your fitness and be willing to make some changes.  Keep it fun and keep pushing play. You can always add Insanity or Tony Horton’s One on One workouts to your regiment as well if you really want to mix it up.

Where to Buy Shakeology

Buy Shakeology So you keep hearing all of these good thing about Shakeology and you are wondering where to get it. Well you are in luck because you can get it right from this site or just go to buy Shakeology and watch a video that will tell you what Shakeology is all about. Shakeology is only offered through Beachbody coaches and can not be found in stores or anywhere else and it just so happens that I loved P90X so much that I decided to become a Beachbody coach.

Shakeolgy comes in 2 different flavors. Chocolate and Greenberry.  I must say that I like them both but I am partial to the greenberry flavor.  Not sure why, it is just really different tasting.  If you are a chocolate person then just go with the chocolate as it is really good as well.  I mix mine with rice milk and have tried it with water but I definitely prefer it with the rice milk.

Best part is if you purchase Shakeology on home direct you will get free shipping and the Shakeology workout videos for free.  On your second shipment you will get a free Shakeology shaker cup to mix your drink in.

There are over 70 ingredients in Shakeology and it also has either 15 or 17 grams of protein per serving.  To try and piece this drink together would cost you a fortune.  If you use this shake instead if eating lunch you will definitely cut your calories, save money and lose weight.  If you stick with the Shakeology workouts this will speed up your weight loss and get you in better shape.

I don’t want to bore you with typing out all of the ingredients and trying to sell you on it so if you want to take a look at the ingredients just go to Shakeology and watch the video.  Click on buy Shakeology and you will be taken to a page where you will be able to see the list of ingredients.

Any questions about Shakeology just leave a comment or send me an email.

Take Your Measurements I often get this question when people first start out with P90X, “I have been doing P90X for 3 weeks now and the scale is not moving, what gives?”  First thing I ask is, “Did you take your measurements?”.  Most of the time the answer is no.  Most people are so excited to get started that they fail to do one of the most important steps before starting your fitness transformation, taking those measurements.  You also need to take a before picture but that will be in tomorrows post. Why do you need to take your measurements? You need to take your measurements so you get really see how your are progressing.  Sometimes the scale won’t cooperate but if you look at your measurements you will find that you are losing inches. This is a good thing.  I am sure you notice your clothes fitting differently but you just quite figure out what is going on. Remember, muscle weighs more than fat so you might not notice the scale moving right away but if you go and look back at your measurements you can see where it’s coming off. Team Beachbody make this easy.  If you haven’t already, go and get your free Beachbody account. Once you do just log in at TeamBeachbody.com and and click on the little arrow next to edit profile on the left. The just select progress and goals and you will be able to enter your start date, weight, waist size, hip size, chest size, arm size, thigh size, body fat%, hdl and ldl  cholesterol and your blood pressure. There is also a fitness test there that you can take every 30 days as well to track your progress.  This is great because it keeps everything in one place for you and you can updates your info whenever you like.  You can also add your before picture, personal pictures and much more.

So if you are doing P90X, Insanity, RevAbs, Turbo Jam or any other Beachbody workout, be sure to start out by taking your measurements and  taking some before pictures.
