Shaun T Insanity Day 51: Max Interval Plyo

Insanity Max Interval PlyoDay 51 with Shaun T’s Insanity is Max Interval Plyo.  In case you are still wondering, yes it is still very hard.  I was getting max interval plyo and max interval circuit mixed up but not any more.  You can describe max interval plyo as the workout with a ton of push-ups.  You will do more than a 100 push-ups of different varieties with this workout.  Lucky for me I was prepared for this since P90X Chest and Back is all about push-ups. Lot’s of push-ups.  I must say that they seem harder during Insanity but that is because you are constantly tired,  so when you do these push-ups you are already pretty worn out from all the jumping and squatting.  I do feel really good when I am done and I know my heart is an extra efficient blood pumping machine so all this hard work is paying off.

Insanity Fit TestToday with Shaun T’s Insanity is my 4th fit test and then max interval circuit.  I am getting down to the nitty gritty now and next week is my last week. I have to say that this max interval circuit is still really hard and it is even harder after the fit test. I would like to think that this workout would get a little easier over time but it doesn’t look like it.  I think it it will always be pretty tough no matter how many times I do it.  This is going to be a great workout to mix in when I put together a P90X/Insanity hybrid.  This would be great in place of P90X Kenpo X. Well, tomorrow is Max Interval Plyo.  Great!  Another tough one.  That’s OK, that’s why I bought Insanity.  I want to challenge myself and when Beachbody comes out with another crazy insane workout you can believe I will be buying that one too.

Here are the results from my 4th fit test with Shaun T’s Insanity.

Switch Kicks: 71

Power Jacks: 65

Power Knees: 123

Power Jumps: 69

Globe Jumps: 13

Suicide Jumps: 25

Push-Up Jacks: 47

Low Plank Oblique: 96

I improved in every exercise except for the globe jumps. I don’t think I am going to get past 13.  just not enough time.  I have 1 fit test left and I am hoping to get in 14 globe jumps but I guess we will have to weight and see.

Shaun T Insanity: Core Cardio and Balance Day 48 with Shaun T Insanity is supposed to be a rest day for me but I pushed my schedule back one day due to St. Patrick’s day.  So today I did Core Cardio and Balance instead of resting.  Tomorrow I will be right back on schedule with my 4th fit test and Max Interval Circuit again.  Great, I am already dreading this workout.  Core cardio and balance is not too bad at all compared to the other workouts.  It is almost like a break since the cardio is not too extreme.  If you are a beginner you might consider this a tough workout but after doing the other max workouts, core cardio and balance is a walk in the park.  Well, maybe I shouldn’t go that far and say that but it is more relaxing than it is strenuous.  You are moving but you can still breathe.  There is one part at the end that will leave your shoulders and thighs burning but other then that it is nice to kind of have a break from the insaneness of Insanity.

Only 2 more weeks to go and I will be able to say that I am an Insanity graduate.  No easy task I must say but once you decide on a workout and then commit to it, you will succeed.

St. Patrick’s day 2010 put a little wrench in my workout schedule this week so I had to adjust it a day so I could do 12 ounce curls all day on St. Patrick’s day.  I still did Max interval circuit on Tuesday but I made Wednesday my rest day instead of Sunday so I could party with the leprechauns. I picked right back up on Thursday with Max interval plyo and let me tell you, this workout is no fun after drinking the previous day. These two “Max” workouts are definitely the toughest in this Insanity series.  If you can make it through these then you are in pretty good shape.  After tomorrow and Sunday there is only 2 weeks left of this program.  I am ready to start hitting some weights again.  It will be nice to mix in these Max workouts with P90X and some running.

One thing that I have noticed while doing Insanity if that these workouts really kick your butt.  P90X kicks your butt as well, but in a different way.  With Insanity you still feel tired even hours after your workout.  With P90X you feel sore but I really didn’t feel tired as much as I do with Insanity.  Maybe I need to add in an extra carb for a little extra energy.

Insanity Max Cardio ConditioningDay 43 with Shaun T’s Insanity is Max Cardio Conditioning and let me tell you it is not too bad when compared to the Max Interval workouts.  Geez, those max interval workouts are tough.  Today was not too tough, mostly cardio with some squats and push up moves.  I felt well rested after not doing anything yesterday and let me say this, after 6 days of Insanity, you definitely need that day off.  Eating has been a bit of a challenge lately and it has been tough trying to get in 5 small meals a day.  It just seems like a lot of eating but this is the best way to do.  I always try and have a protein bar or a Shakeology pack on hand just in case I don’t have enough time to eat or if I just want something quick.  Shakeology has either 15 or 17 grams of protein in it(depending on flavor) as well as a ton of other stuff so this shake always leaves me feeling full. If you are looking for a meal replacement then I would definitely recommend Shakeology, it will probably be your healthiest meal of the day.

Clean Out Your Fridge for P90X or InsanityOne of the first things you need to do before starting any new fitness or weight loss program is go to the kitchen and get rid of the junk.  If there is no junk in your kitchen then you will not be tempted to eat those chips and dip at midnight.

Whether you are starting P90X, Insanity or any other fitness program make sure you have a nutrition plan in place. All of the Beachbody workouts come with some sort of nutrition guide so if you are doing one then you have that part covered.  If you are not doing a Beachbody workout then make sure you do your homework and plan your meals so that they will help you reach your goals.  You could always get a Club Membership at Team Beachbody and use there meal planner which will lay out your meals for you.  Just make sure you do something.  Without a proper nutrition plan you will be setting yourself up for failure.

Below is a video that will get you started on cleaning out your kitchen.

Here is a link to foods you can enjoy and food you should avoid.
