Becoming a Team Beachbody Coach, if it for you?  What’s involved in becoming a Beachbody coach?  What does a Beachbody coach do?  I often get questions like this from people wondering what is a Team Beachbody coach.  Let me give it to you in the simplest terms I can.  “People helping people”.  That’s it. We are plumbers, school teachers, lawyers, doctors, military personnel, yoga instructors, personal trainers and the list goes on and on and on. If you like helping others and want to get in great shape or drop those extra pounds then you have what it takes to do this business.  Yes, it is a business and you can earn as much as you want.  No glass ceiling here.

Becoming a Beachbody coach is one of the best decisions I have ever made. I am in the best shape of my life, I get to help others get started in their fitness and financial transformations and I make some extra cash as well. Quinoa Veggie Burger Recipe

Quinoa Veggie Burger It’s that time of the year again.  Time to brush off the BBQ grills and fire them up.  With Memorial Day quickly approaching I wanted to find a good veggie burger recipe for my honey, Christina, to try and hopefully like. One of my readers had sent this in to me a while back but they did not know who’s recipe it was so if anyone knows where this originated just leave a comment so I can give them some credit.

Spicy Chickpea Barley and Quinoa Veggie Burger
Ingredients

1 small sweet potato, baked
1/4 cup dry quinoa
1/4 cup dry barley
15-ounce can garbanzo beans, rinsed and drained
2 tablespoons parsley
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (if you do not like super spicy food you might want to tone this down a bit)
1 teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons whole wheat flour
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 1/2 fresh red peppers

Directions

  1. Peel, dice, and steam the sweet potato until soft.
  2. Cook the quinoa and barley in separate pots.
  3. Remove the stem and seeds from the red peppers. Cut the whole pepper in quarters, the half a pepper in half, and roast all six pieces in the oven or on the grill.
  4. While the grains and pepper are cooking, in a food processor, combine garbanzo beans, sweet potato, parsley, cayenne pepper, cumin, salt and pepper, flour, and one tablespoon oil.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix the bean mixture with the quinoa and barley.
  6. Using hands, form into six patties.
  7. Heat the remaining tablespoon of oil in a pan on medium heat. Brown both sides of each burger. Serve on a bun with melted cheese (optional) and a quarter of the roasted pepper.

Naked Yoga Anyone?

So I was doing some fitness reading the other day and I came across an interesting story or two.  One one them I want to share with you now Naked Yogasince if I have never heard of this and I am pretty sure there are others in the same boat as me and never heard of this as well.  What am I taking about here?  Naked yoga!  That’s right folks, there are places out there where you can take a yoga class in nothing but your birthday suit.  For me, my first exposure of yoga came by means of P90X Yoga X.  That was the first time I have ever done yoga and it was extremely difficult in the beginning.  After a few weeks I did get the hang of it and it felt really good on my sore muscles.

Now I am reading that naked yoga is becoming a mini-phenomenon. Most of the naked yoga classes out there cater to the gay community and can be found in Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City and Chicago.  There are some coed classes out there but the male only gatherings seem to be the trend.

Nude yoga fans say it helps in deepening the yoga practice while building a non-sexual yoga community.  There are many reasons why one would practice nude yoga from looking for a different yoga experience to overcoming body image issues.  Some yoga practitioners just feel that being naked is spiritual and healing.

One thing to be aware of is that most naked yoga classes are not sexual in nature but it is a good idea to get a detailed description before you decide to shed your clothes.  There are some classes out there that will be on the touchy feely side and there are some naked yoga classes that will be very spiritual in nature.  Just call ahead so you know what to expect and are not surprised.

I must say that the thought of a room full of naked guys practicing yoga is not my cup a tea but if it gets people moving more then I am all for it.

Congrats Marcus Ochoa!

Marcus Ochoa Just want to to take a few minutes and say congratulations to my brother Marcus Ochoa who was one of the top recruiters last week for all of Team Beachbody coming in 3rd place.  This is no small task as there are over 25,000 coaches helping others get fit with Team Beachbody. Shakeology Cleanse

So I did the Shakeology Cleanse and I wanted to share my results and the way I felt while doing it for 3 days.  First off I do want to say that I did not do the Shakeology Cleanse to lose weight but I did lose six pounds in the 3 days that I did it.  I wanted to get the most nutrient dense calories I could get and Shakeology did that for me.  Weight loss was just a byproduct of what I wanted to do.  Even though I am not trying to lose weight it is good to mix things up every now and again.  I feel I did get rid if some unwanted toxins and undigested foods and all in all this increased my energy levels.

I followed the cleanse to a “T” and I did not use any fruit in my Shakeology drink.  Just water or ice all 9 times. I was hungry at the end of the first day but that went away into the second day.  I did not feel the need to snack in between but I am sure many people will especially if your eating habits have not been so good up to this point. On the third day I was pleasantly surprised that I had so much energy on such few calories.  I wasn’t working out too hard as this was a recovery week for me.
