What to do if I Miss My P90X Work Out

P90X MotivationWhat should you do if you miss a P90X work out?  I often get this question from people who think all is lost because they have missed one of their P90X work outs.  Well I am here to tell you, don’t sweat it. Life happens and life will happen.  Don’t get me wrong, don’t try and make cheesy excuses why you can’t work out today.  You have made a commitment  to 90 days with P90X and to get the best results you are going to have to stick to that plan.  If something comes up and you absolutely can not make your work out then here is a good rule of thumb that has worked for me and others.  If you miss 1 work out try and make it up on your rest day, if you can’t then don’t worry about it but try not to make a habit of it.  If you miss 2 work outs for the week then repeat that week. This simple formula has worked well for myself and many others and I am sure it will work for you too.  Also, you will be getting in some extra work outs since you will be repeating a week which could also help with your results.

Remember, P90X is not just some silly work out plan.  You are also making a mental commitment for 90 days to stick with the work outs and to stick to the P90X nutrition plan.  Don’t let one little hiccup stop you from moving forward in your progress.  If you fall of the horse you have to get up and get right back on.  Need some help?  Feel free to send me and email and let me know how it’s going.

seventh day of P90X-rest Can I work out on the seventh day of P90X or should I rest or do P90X Stretch X?  First off I want to say that I always suggest that during your initial 90 days with P90X you try and follow the work out guide to a “T”.  The work out guides says take a rest on day 7 or do stretch x and that is what I would do. P90X is an extreme work out and your body does need time to rest for optimum performance.  Once you are finished with your initial 90 days of P90X you will have a better idea of how P90X is going to affect your body, how much rest you will need, how much sleep you will need, how many carbs you will need and on and on.  With this in mind you can then make a judgment call based on how you feel since no one knows your body better than you do.  Personally after my first 90 days of P90X I still took the break on the seventh day most times but there were times where I did run, played a soccer game or played some tennis.  I never hit the weights on the rest day or did any type of resistance training and I think I performed better  the day after giving my muscles that much needed break.  Again, listen to your body.  It is sending you signals.

Remember, there is such a thing as over-training and also remember, your muscles need that rest to grow and heal.  When you are working out give it your all and when you are resting do the same.  Kick off those shoes, hop on the boat or hop on the hammock and enjoy your rest day. You earned it.

Someone once said that the worst vice was “advice” but I seen this video and I couldn’t resist writing a little post about starting your day.  What you say and what you think about when you wake up in the morning can determine how your whole day is going to go.  Positive affirmations can help you in all walks of life and especially when it comes to your work outs.  When you wake up in the morning get excited about your P90X work outs.  Whether you are doing them right away or later in the day, being positive about your P90X work outs will help you achieve the results you are looking for.  If you say to yourself that you don’t want to do these darned work outs or you really don’t feel like doing them then what do you think the results are going to be? Exactly, a half ass work out.  If you say you can’t wait to “Bring It” and you feel good and you are seeing great results then you are sure to have a great work out.  This all adds up at the end of the day.  Stay positive, stay focused and you will get to where you want to be. In fitness and in life.

P90X and Tony Horton on Fox- Again

p90X 90 day work out, px90, xp90x,90x and p90x are what I have heard it called.  All I know is the the P90X exercise program has become nothing short of a phenomenon. It’s no wonder that national news stations want to interview Tony Horton to see what all the hoopla is about.  Tony was on Fox Atlanta about a year ago and now he has appeared on Fox once again and he was even getting everyone involved.  If you haven’t heard of P90x then I think you must have been living on the moon for the last few years or you are just not into keeping your body a finely tuned machine.  In any event, here is the video of Tony Horton on Fox and Friends.
