What should you do if you miss a P90X work out? I often get this question from people who think all is lost because they have missed one of their P90X work outs. Well I am here to tell you, don’t sweat it. Life happens and life will happen. Don’t get me wrong, don’t try and make cheesy excuses why you can’t work out today. You have made a commitment to 90 days with P90X and to get the best results you are going to have to stick to that plan. If something comes up and you absolutely can not make your work out then here is a good rule of thumb that has worked for me and others. If you miss 1 work out try and make it up on your rest day, if you can’t then don’t worry about it but try not to make a habit of it. If you miss 2 work outs for the week then repeat that week. This simple formula has worked well for myself and many others and I am sure it will work for you too. Also, you will be getting in some extra work outs since you will be repeating a week which could also help with your results.
Can I work out on the seventh day of P90X or should I rest or do P90X Stretch X? First off I want to say that I always suggest that during your initial 90 days with P90X you try and follow the work out guide to a “T”. The work out guides says take a rest on day 7 or do stretch x and that is what I would do. P90X is an extreme work out and your body does need time to rest for optimum performance. Once you are finished with your initial 90 days of P90X you will have a better idea of how P90X is going to affect your body, how much rest you will need, how much sleep you will need, how many carbs you will need and on and on. With this in mind you can then make a judgment call based on how you feel since no one knows your body better than you do. Personally after my first 90 days of P90X I still took the break on the seventh day most times but there were times where I did run, played a soccer game or played some tennis. I never hit the weights on the rest day or did any type of resistance training and I think I performed better the day after giving my muscles that much needed break. Again, listen to your body. It is sending you signals.
