Naked Yoga Anyone?

So I was doing some fitness reading the other day and I came across an interesting story or two.  One one them I want to share with you now Naked Yogasince if I have never heard of this and I am pretty sure there are others in the same boat as me and never heard of this as well.  What am I taking about here?  Naked yoga!  That’s right folks, there are places out there where you can take a yoga class in nothing but your birthday suit.  For me, my first exposure of yoga came by means of P90X Yoga X.  That was the first time I have ever done yoga and it was extremely difficult in the beginning.  After a few weeks I did get the hang of it and it felt really good on my sore muscles.

Now I am reading that naked yoga is becoming a mini-phenomenon. Most of the naked yoga classes out there cater to the gay community and can be found in Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City and Chicago.  There are some coed classes out there but the male only gatherings seem to be the trend.

Nude yoga fans say it helps in deepening the yoga practice while building a non-sexual yoga community.  There are many reasons why one would practice nude yoga from looking for a different yoga experience to overcoming body image issues.  Some yoga practitioners just feel that being naked is spiritual and healing.

One thing to be aware of is that most naked yoga classes are not sexual in nature but it is a good idea to get a detailed description before you decide to shed your clothes.  There are some classes out there that will be on the touchy feely side and there are some naked yoga classes that will be very spiritual in nature.  Just call ahead so you know what to expect and are not surprised.

I must say that the thought of a room full of naked guys practicing yoga is not my cup a tea but if it gets people moving more then I am all for it.

300 Workout Plan | 300 Spartan Workout Routine

300 Workout Plan So I am sure you are familiar with the Brad Pitt fight club workout but what about the Spartan 300 workout?  What the heck did these guys do to get so ripped?

The 300 workout was created by Mark Twight who is the man you want to talk to if you want to get ripped fast.  He is a self taught trainer and knows what it takes to get results.  The 300 workout got it’s name because this is the number of reps you do throughout all of these exercise. (Just as a word of caution, don’t go run off to the basement and think you will be able to complete this.  The 300 workout is not for beginners and you could seriously injure yourself.  This is something you work up to over time.)  Now if you have just completed the P90X 90 day workout and were able to complete all of the moves then you could probably give this a try. The idea is to complete all reps and exercises with no break and as fast as you can. Maybe you will able to compete with Andrew Pleavin who played Daxos in 300 and finished the 300 workout in 18 minutes and 11 seconds.

These Spartans did not start out in this shape.  It took 10 weeks of training for 90 minutes to 2 hours each day, 5days a week to get in this shape.  Gerard Butler trained for 12 weeks and often put in more hours to get his 6 pack.

When the training started there were guys in perfect shape and others that were 40 pounds over weight but if you have seen the movie you know what the end results were.  All of the Spartans looked like they have been training together for years and that is exactly what the director Zack Snyder wanted.

Here is what the 300 workout consists of:

  • 25 Pull-ups
  • 50 Deadlifts and 135 pounds
  • 50 Push-ups
  • 50 Box jumps with a 24 inch box
  • 50 Floor wipers with 135 pounds
  • 50 Clean and press at 36 pounds
  • 25 more pull-ups for a total of 300 reps.

Pheeewwww!  I am getting tired just writing it.  All of the actors regiments varied depending on where they were at physically.  Some of the guys did high intensity circuit training, some lifted with heavy loads, some did mini workouts and some did hard interval training on the Circuit II rowing machine.

Of course, as with any training program you will most likely have to make some nutrition changes.  So figure out what you are going to eat and plan out your meals prior to starting any fitness program.  This will be a major factor in the results you will see.  If you are looking for a fitness program that will also give you a nutrition plan then check out some of the Beachbody workouts.  If you are looking for an extreme workout then check out the P90X workouts or Shaun T’s Insanity.  Both will challenge you and are not for beginners.

Brad Pitt Fight Club Work Out

Brad Pitt as Tyler Durden in Fight Club

Brad Pitt as Tyler Durden in Fight Club

So I have been asked a few questions on why every time  I add a picture to my blog post that is just happens to be a beautiful woman.  Hmmmmm, I thought.  Well for one I am a guy. So I said to myself what would be a good subject to write about where I could a picture of some bad ass.  First thing that came to mind was “The first rule about fight club is we don’t talk about fight club”.  Bad ass Tyler Durden from the movie Fight Club.  In case you have been living under a rock for the past 20 years Brad Pitt played Ed Norton’s alter ego in Fight Club.

So is Brad Pitt just genetically blessed or did he have to work to get into this kind of shape?  He worked, he worked real hard. Abs do not pop like that from just doing some simple work out. You perform 3 sets and break 50-60 seconds between sets. You should use a weight that you are almost to failure on your last rep. It also help when you are a multimillionaire and you have unlimited resources to spend on personal trainers.

One other thing to remember if you are going to do the”Brad Pitt Fight Club Work Out” your diet will also play a huge key to your success.  You have to eat clean.  5-6 times a day would be optimal.
