What isP90X One on One? I get a lot of questions asking what is this work out is. Is it a 90 day system? Is it a 60 day system? What the heck is P90X One on One with Tony Horton?
P90X basically is a new work out every month. Currently there are 3 volumes consisting of 12 DVD’s each but you can also buy each work out individually. Every month Tony performs a work out at his home gym and shares it with you. So if you are looking to mix up your P90X work outs, try something different or just get some more of Tony then P90X One on One is a great option. I don’t have all of them but I do have some of them and I mix them into my routine about every other week.
I have been doing Beachbody work outs now for 2 years and I really like to mix and match. I do a full round and then I implement it into my current routine. I have done Insanity, Asylum, P90X, some P90X One on One’s and RevAbs. Now I pretty much use P90X as my core resistance work outs and mix in Insanity and Asylum for cardio. I also mix in the P90X One on One work outs every 3rd week or so. Some times every 2nd week it just depends how I am feeling and if I need a change or not.
If you like Tony Horton and you like P90X then you will most likely enjoy the P90X One on One work outs. Give them a try. Mix it up and let’s “BRING IT”
Tony Horton sure does know how to to get around. He travels all around the world doing work outs with the Military, does his P90X One on One work outs in his home, works out on the beach, is on QVC, make appearances for Beachbody events and is always on various morning shows. Sometimes I think Tony Horton has a body double for the amount of appearances he makes. Heck, when I was at Beachbody corporate back in December he was even there as well. He must travel at the speed of light and I am sure P90X prepared him for this type of travel. (lol)
In any event, it is awesome to see someone stand behind there product like Tony does. This guy truly wants to bring fitness to the world and help end this trend of obesity. Check out ex-Detroit bad boy’s interview with Tony Horton.
Will I get bored doing P90X? Most likely not and here’s why. P90X has three phases and the work outs change in each phase. It is not a dramatic change but it is just enough to assure that you do not not get bored doing the P90X work out. I did P90X for about 9 months before I wanted to try something else so I ordered Shaun T’s Insanity. I did the 60 days straight through of Insanity and then I went back and added in some Insanity work outs into my P90X routine to create a P90X/Insanity hybrid. Did that routine until Insanity: The Asylum came out and then I ordered Asylum. That is a 30 day program which I did to completion and now I am doing the P90X Asylum hybrid. I also mix in some P90X One on One work outs which also helps keep things fresh and I even did a little RevAbs.
My point here is, if you want to get bored then you most likely will. If you switch it up from time to time you will stay motivated and most likely not have to worry about plateauing. Your body will just continue to get better and better. Each of these work outs are unique in their own special way and will help you improve different areas of your fitness.
Personally, I love not having to leave the house to go to a gym or club to do an awesome work out. If you keep adding work outs to your fitness library then you can rest assured, you will never get bored with P90X.
Am I too old to do P90X? I hear this questions quite frequently. People often say that P90X exercise program is for younger people or P90X is too hard for someone in their 50′s or 60′s. Well I am here to tell you, unless you have a physical ailment that prevents you from doing some of the P90X exercises or unless your doctor has told you that it is not a good idea, then I think just about anyone can modify P90X to help improve their fitness level. At the time I am writing this Tony Horton, the creator of P90X is 53 years old and he will be the first to tell you that exercise is the fountain of youth. Of course you have to combine it with the proper nutrition but I think that is an obvious statement. You can not eat a Big Mac every day and do P90x and expect to feel good.
If you think that you are tool old for P90X then you are probably right. What you think is more than half the battle to over coming any obstacle including P90X. If you think you can do P90X then you will find a way. The bottom line is you can modify just about every movement in P90X to suit your needs. If you need to take a break then hit pause. Can’t jump too high? Then just step. Can’t do full on pull ups? Use a chair for assistance. Where there’s a will there’s a way. So if you are still wondering if you are too old to do P90X then my answer is HELL NO! Let’s do this.
Check out Bob’s P90X story below. Bob was 60 years old the first time he did P90X and he says it put him in the best shape of his life. Now at 60 years old I think that is an amazing statement.
So you want to double your weight loss while doing the P90X workout, Insanity, TurboFire or any work out for that matter? It could be a lot easier than you think. Pen and paper have proved to be two valuable tools in the fight against obesity. In a six month weight loss study, participants that kept a record of their calorie counts and food intake lost more than twice as much weight than those that kept no records at all. The best part about this is that is is simple and virtually cost you nothing. When you write things down you can really see what you are eating throughout the day. Sometime people miss things like condiments or a soda. When you right it all down all of things really become visibly apparent.
Another good thing about keeping a food diary/journal is you can go back and look at it later. Wonder why you feel tired? Wondering why you have so much energy? Wondering why you can’t get through your work outs? There is a good chance that you can answer all of these questions from your food journal by looking back at what you ate. Personally, I can usually correlate how I feel by using two metrics. What I think about most often and what I eat. If you can control these two things you will be unstoppable.
One of the best tools around is our meal planner from Team Beachbody. You put in your program and what your goals are and it will plan your meals for you and give you a grocery list you can take to the store. So you are ready to get started with the P90X exercise program but you are wondering if P90X uses weights? The answer is you have two options. You can either use weights/dumbbells or you can use resistance bands. The choice is up to you and you will get great results with either choice. Personally I like using dumbbells and a pull up bar versus the resistance. I just feel like I get more out of the work outs when using weights. I also have people who swear by the resistance bands and say they wouldn’t have it any other way. This is a purely up to you. It is nice to have an option and this just shows the versatility of the P90X program.
You can also use the resistance bands and simulate pull ups but I like to see people use a pull up bar and use a chair as assistance if you need to. Once again this is just my preference. The key is to do what you can and use what ever tools you have available. If you have dumbbells, use them. If you have bands then use them but just get started. That is the key. Decide to get started, set a date and get going. If you have to make some minor changes along the way don’t worry about it. Just keep “Bringing It” every day and you will see some awesome results with P90X.
If you decide you want to use dumbbells and do not yet have a set I can tell you the best place to find weights at an affordable price is on craigslist. You will usually find them at about half of what you would pay in retail. I bought mine from there and you should check it out to if you are looking to save a few bucks.
So now that you know that P90X uses weight or resistance bands what are you waiting for? Buy P90X now and lets get started.
