How Hard is Shaun T’s Insanity?

How hard is Shaun T’s Insanity? So you are thinking about doing Insanity and you are wondering how hard it really is? Well let me tell you this, it is hard and once you get into the 5th week it gets even harder. When I said hard, think about the suicide sprints you used to do in the gym during practice or gym class. Remember how hard you heart was pumping? Now imagine adding some push ups at the end of that run while your heart is pumping a million beats a minute. Or having to do some squat jumps right after those sprints?  This is the best way I can describe Insanity.  Well at least the intensity anyways.  There are a lot more movements and exercises you will do and they all will leave hovering over a pool of you own sweat.

If you are new to exercise or you haven’t been active in quite some time I would not suggest this work out.  You have to work your way up to Insanity because it is pretty hard.  Don’t get me wrong here, I loved it and if you like to push yourself to the limit you will like it too. If you love cardio then Insanity is the way to go.

Will Shaun T’s Insanity work out help you build muscle?  The Insanity work outs are extreme work outs that utilize plyometrics, calisthenics, sports drills and traditional cardio. They are tough work outs but Insanity is not the program to go with if you are looking to build muscle. Shaun T’s Insanity will burn a lot of calories and physically challenge you by pushing you to your threshold but if you are looking to build muscle I would have to suggest a program like P90X instead.

You will tone up and get definition with Insanity but you are only using your own body weight as resistance.  You will not be using dumbbells or a pull up bar like you do with P90X but Insanity will still put your body through a work out like you have never seen.

The Insanity work outs are going to tone your legs, abs, shoulders, glutes and arms but building muscle really is not the focus of the Insanity work outs. I have done both, Insanity and P90X and I really enjoy both work outs.  What I do now is mix the two of them together for a hybrid work out so I am getting the best of both worlds.

The bottom line is if you are looking to build muscle go with P90X.  If you are looking to burn a ton of calories and fat all while working out in a puddle of your own sweat then Insanity is for you.  Know your goals and what you are trying to accomplish and this will make it easier to choose the Beachbody work out that is perfect for you.

ShaunT Insanity P90X is now mainstream and makes its’ way into the news all the time.  Today I want to tell you that Shaun T’s Insanity has made its’ way on to the “Deal or Dud” segment of Fox news in Dallas.  This show reviews various fitness products to see if they are what they say they are.  Well, Insanity made it way to the news room.  With out seeing the segment I could have told you what they were going to say because I have done Insanity but it was nice hearing it from an unbiased 3rd party.  They girl they had reviewing Insanity said it was the hardest work out she has done. She goes on to say that she has run marathons and that Insanity is harder.  I can vouch for her there.  Insanity is also the hardest work out I have ever done.  If you are looking for some extreme cardio and want to burn a ton of calories with nothing more than your own body weigh then Shaun T’s Insanity is for you.  Remember, Insanity is tough, Tough, TOUGH!  if you are just starting out Insanity is not for you. There are other Beachbody work outs that you can start out with and work your way up to Insanity.

Check out the news cast below and as always if you have any specific questions feel free to let me know.

P90X or Insanity? Which Work Out is Better?

P90X and InsanityP90X or Insanity? Insanity or P90X? Which work out is better?  This is a question that I receive all the time and the truth of the matter is that they are both awesome work outs.  If you ask ten different people you will probably get ten different answers based on which work out that particular person liked best.  So to say which one is best depends on you and what you like.

Insanity is extreme cardio that focuses on burning a ton of calories and using only your own body weight as resistance.  When I say “extreme cardio”, I mean it.  Insanity is tough.  If this is your first time working out then Insanity is not for you.  You probably would not make it past the warm up. If you are looking to burn calories, slim down and tone up and you are already in pretty good shape then Insanity is for you.

P90X on the other hand focuses more on resistance training and building and toning muscle.  You do also get some great cardio as well.  P90X Plyometrics and P90X Core Synergistics will provide you with some great cardio and then there is also P90X Cardio X and P90X Yoga X to keep your work outs fresh. I feel that P90X will change the way your body looks more than Insanity will because you are working some many different muscles and you are doing more resistance training but this is my opinion.

So, which work out program do I like best?  Well, I like them both.  I now do a mix of P90X and Insanity together and add in a few One on One work outs as well.  Mixing it up keeps working out fun so that is what I try and do.

Basically I would sum it up like this. If you are in good shape and you like extreme cardio then buy Insanity.

If you want more resistance with some cardio then buy P90X. (And yes ladies, you will get awesome results with P90X)

Jewel Kilcher Loves Shaun T’s Insanity

Jewel Kilcher Loves InsanityWe have another celebrity letting the world know how she feels about Beachbody Products.  Singer, Jewel Kilcher, in a recent Shape Magazine article gives us a clue of how she stays in shape.  Jewel says she works out with the guys next door and their favorite work out is Insanity. She also goes on and talks about some of the other exercises she does to stay in great shape and shows us her ab routine.

If these celebrities are getting results from programs like Insanity I’ll bet there is a pretty good chance you will to. If you are thinking about giving Insanity a shot remember this.  Insanity is tough, real tough and it’s not for beginners. With that being said, it is an awesome work out.  Hardest cardio work out I have ever done and I still do these work outs to this day mixing them in to my P90X work outs.

If you are really looking for a challenging workout that will leave you sweating up a storm then Insanity is for you.
