Fergie Jogging So you are an avid runner/jogger and you are wondering if you can till run while doing P90X?  Will you have enough energy to still complete your runs while doing P90X?  How many miles can I run while doing P90X? Are certain days better than others to run on while doing P90X?

Let me say this.  You have to take these questions on a case by case basis. Every individual will be different.  Some will be able to run while doing P90X, some will not and some will have to cut some miles. One thing I would recommend for sure is if you are going to stick with your current miles then don’t run on P90X Plyometrics or P90X Legs and Back days. Your legs will most likely need to recover from these 2 work outs.  With P90X, Sunday or day 7 is usually a rest day or you can do P90X Stretch X, you could run on this day if you don’t need the rest.  Another thing that people have been having success with is running on cardio days.  For example, instead of doing P90X Kenpo X, P90X Plyometrics, or resting you could run on these days but P90X Plyometrics is such a good workout that it is tough to tell you to cut it.  If you can handle running and P90X then you could run on strength days but that is like doing 2-a days. If you are finding P90X Plyometrics too hard here are some tips.

One other thing to consider here is your nutrition.  What are your goals?  Are you trying to lose weight?  Are you trying to maintain your weight?  If you are running as well as doing P90X then you will have to tweak the P90X nutrition plan some.  You will probably need to add some more calories to give you the energy to complete these workouts and runs.

If you are training for a marathon or other running event then it might be wise to focus more on running and cut back a little on P90X. If not then you can go full force with p90X. Personally I still ran 4-5 miles three times per week while doing the Classic version of P90X.  I did have to eat more and those first 3 weeks were tough.  After that I was good to go.

The best thing you can do is listen to your body.  Even if you run 40+ miles per week you are still going to be sore when you start P90X.  So be sure do take that into account and make sure you give your body some time to recover.  If you are a runner P90X will most definitely give you the all around muscle fitness you have been looking for.
